This August, see how dreams, love, and music ignite hope and inspiration on Viva Cinema’s Big One, Sundays at 8pm.

On the first day of the month comes the story of a young girl who dares to make a difference. Jonalyn Ablong is a young Aeta who graduates from elementary in a public school of Pampanga. With the presidential election coming up, she makes it her mission to teach her fellow Aetas, especially the elders, to read and write so they will be able to cast their votes that will hopefully bring them a brighter future. “Manoro” won Best Film at the Cinemanila International Film Festival. Brillante Mendoza also won Best Director.

On August 8, Angelu de Leon and Bobby Andrews learn that true love looks beyond the physical in “Ikaw na Sana”. When a curse destroys the face of Blanca (Angelu), and she is maltreated by her relatives, she finds comfort in the company of the blind Rafael (Bobby). But her happiness crumbles when Rafael, after regaining his sight, sees and is shocked by her deformed face. Hurt and humiliated, Blanca runs away, leaving Rafael to find a way to have her love back.

Two of the country’s leading bands, Side A and Freestyle, are joined by no less than the Diamond Soul Siren Nina in “Love2Love2Love 2” on August 15. In this concert described as “no competition, only complementation”, they blend well together starting with the introductory repertoire of “Got to Believe in Magic”, “This Time”, and ‘Someday”. Nina knows just how to please the crowd by singing her most requested renditions of ““I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing,” “If I Were A Boy” and “Listen”, just to name a few. Freestyle pays tribute to OPM classics like “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin,” “Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin” and “Ipagpatawad Mo.” Side A does songs from their latest album Only 1, such as “Tila” and “Kung Wala Ka Na,” and more. Their special number of pop songs is something to look forward to.

Regine Velasquez finds her dream man in Christopher de Leon in “Pangarap Ko ang Ibigin Ka” on August 22. Alexis (Regine) is a successful businesswoman who yearns and prays for love. Her prayer leads her to a church where she finds Rafael (Christopher) giving a eulogy for his wife. Touched by everything Rafael said, Alexis is determined to get close to him, hoping that he will open his heart to her.

On August 29, Gawad Urian Best Picture winner “Segurista” shows how poverty drives a woman to bare her body and soul. Karen (Michelle Aldana) is an insurance underwriter by day and a guest relation’s officer in a club by night. Though married, she beds her clients at the club in exchange for their purchase of insurance coverage. Falling in love with one of her regulars, she must keep her life from falling apart.
