Philippine pop music goes through a refreshing rebirth with the emergence of the newest girl group of five teenage scene with compelling charm, striking style and total talent.
Aptly, christened Pop Girls, the group is an outcome of the collaboration of two of the most influential names in the music industry-recording magnate Boss Vic del Rosario who was responsible for creating the biggest multimedia stars of the country such as Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Sarah Geronimo, among others; and topnotch dancer/choreographer Geleen Eugenio who honed the dancing skills of celebrities like Vilma Santos, Nora Aunor and brought Universal Motion Dancers to the peak of the their career.
Seeing the young as consistently plausible target, Boss Vic challenges Geleen to form a group of appealing young girls who are all exceptional in singing and dancing. Though she was set to leave for the US then, Geleen decided to forgo her initial plan to accept the project and called for an audition.
There were more than fifty hopefuls but only five passed the rigid screening. But the final decision came about when Boss Vic actually saw the chosen girls perform. He was swyaed right away with each of the girls that they were immediately awarded both management and recording contracts.
The fabulous five who make up POP GIRLS are twins Lai and Mar, both aged 16 and half Lebanese; Half Filipino, half Dutch Rose, 13 years old; Half Filipino, half Swiss Schai, 14 years old; the only pure Filipino in the group.
Though coming from various lineages, the girls perfectly jive together to form a melodic clique that is POP GIRLS. This impression is also very much in tune with the album the girls are now working on. Boss Vic has gathered renowed international producers Christian de Walden and Marcus Davis, along with local producer Civ Fontanilla, to pitch in their expertise to create one world class debut album.
The debut album echoes the sound that is distinctly POP GIRLS- youthful, sweet, light, infections... with catchy beat that would make everyone groove and uncomplicated lyrics that would make everyone sing along. The songs mirror the colorful life of the young with themes such as puppy love, shopping, dancing, and basically having fun!
Now nearing its final stage of completion, the album is composed of 13 tracks, mostly original ones such as Crazy For You, and upbeat song by Marcus and Amber Davis and Crushy, written by Geleen Eugenio herself. Also included are covers of hits such as Urong-Sulong and Kapag Tumibok Ang Puso.
POP GIRLS indeed is the new face of music and sound of Philippine Pop Music. The teenage group is undoubtedly at par,
or even better than the rest of the Asian groups which continue to invaded the music scene today. POP GIRLS seals the country's rightful claim to P-POP as the new nickname for Philippine Pop Music to reflect the youthful flair of the group and the music, very much in the tradition of Korea's K-Pop and Japan's J-POP.
And as for LAi, Mar, Rose, Schai, and Nadine, these girls now become the new wholesome and well- educated trendsetters of the youth in the country, not only in terms of song, dance, and music but in personality and lifestyle as well.

just one point of advice, their clothes seem to be clashing with one another ,eyes hurt X( . there are to many colors and accessories smack in together, they look like a piniata barf into them lol (totally not doing this beautiful ladies justice). ok i lied i have one more the hair, please give them better hair. that's all, more power to them.

These girls are good; I mean really good. They have the looks, the voice, the stage presence. They also have some good song writers, They should sing more R&M. Their pop is good, but their R&M sounds a lot better. Some things they can do without: sloppy MV writer, director, Pini`Ata costume & stage designers, amateurish cinematography, and unoriginal choreography ( Filipinos are known internationally for creative dance moves, so why are their dancing to a cheap copy of k-pop.). They could also use better make-up and hairstylist. The group needs to polish their dance moves and facial expressions. The girls have great talent and potential; please don't waste them by using them as backdrop for slapstick and disgusting videos. Lastly, maybe they could use another group name, Pop Girls seems so cliche'.

they do have a great voice and SOME of them are beautiful(don't judge me..it's my opinion
)
i am impressed with their voices but if they want to surpass and gain popularity in asia like k-pop and j-pop artists, they need to train more....in korea, artists train for years before they even debut..some of them even get kicked out during their training years..this long training doesn't mean that they have no talent...it just means that their managers want them to perfect their skills and if you're a fan of k-pop, i'm sure you know how hard their trainings are but also how great their singing and dancing skills are..
this group is sooo good at singing even for a little time in training compared to other *-POP artists...however the dancing is kinda sloppy..not that great..
and the major issue is that they COPIED FROM K-POP VIDEOS..i think (from my POV) that their vid was copied, if not influenced, from Nobody by WonderGirls, 2NE1's I don't care videos, and f(x)'s lachata..and their style is also copied from k-pop artists..this would give them more haters than fans..
so far..this is a bad start in my opinion..

finally its about time that the pop genre starts in the philippines ive been waiting so long for this and its finally happened!!~~ No offense but im tired of the sappy/corny tuned songs that the filippines has in some of its songs like "boom tarat tarat" honestly i would love to listen to a decent filipino song that i can sing in the shower (that would be nice)
the only thing i dont like is that their cloths?? umm they dont match and its just really random. Also the dancing in the "crazy crazy" song was really sloppy when they were transitioning form one place to another
it also looks too K-pop-ish c'mon we filipinos need to show the world that were different in a good way and well make a mark on the world and show them what were made of we dont need to copy i know for a fact that we filipinos are talented and creative so PLEASE LETS BE CREATIVE

C'mon give them some slack Filipino pop is just starting out so i dont blame it if some of you think its lame. I'm glad that there's something new and fresh in our music industry. They are young, beautiful and bursting with talent! Their songs are fine, it's age appropriate since they are all in their early teens. But still, there a lot for them to improve. I hope to hear new songs from them. Much different from their first. In my opinion, their music seems "old " to me. I am pointing to the tune and the beat of music. It's very basic. I hope, they would try to be adventurous with their music. I really wanted to hear a kind of music that is never been heard from our neighbor asian countries. One that is ours and really "unique" and that even us Filipinos will go crazy over it.
It is sad to see that a lot of our fellow Filipinos are patronizing foreign music instead of ours. Its okay, but let's try to support our own music industry, our own artists.
It is really good that we have now our own music girl group "the Pop-Girls". Let's give them our support. Being the next Pop sensation in Asia is not impossible.

Ok lang.. Their voice, maganda pakinggan. Ang galing nga ee. But the style and the dancing, KPOP-ish ang dating. Sana magpractice pa sila sa dance steps.
